The Faith Story: The Holy Story
We remember that shortly after Jesus was born, King Herod — who’d heard of the child from the wise men — ordered that all boys in Bethlehem under two be killed. The Holy Family fled to Egypt, escaping this deadly fate. For thousands of years, on December 28th the church has remembered these 'holy innocents’ on who died because of an abuse of power by a cowardly leader.
Loving God, hold us as we weep for the innocent lives lost, especially those of children, because of the abuses of power of leaders around the world. Fill us with courage so that we are able to stand up and fight for justice for all. Amen.
